Week of January 5, 2020
Editors note: Since some of you were away for the Christmas holiday , the editors have decided to run an encore of his article from last week
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!” Our Savior is born. He who is the Prince of Peace, bringing God’s love to all the world, and most of all peace to our minds, to our hearts and to our homes!
As always, I am very grateful and thankful to everyone in our ACC Parishes for your support and help. We have a wonderful staff and a long list of parishioners (people) who are so generous in sending me their Christmas cards, special gifts, and all your well-wishes this holiday season. Since it is very difficult for me to send a “Thank you” card to everyone personally, I would like to say it here: “Thank you! for your support and prayers and encouragement these past 6 ½ years as your pastor!”
Once again, this year we are offering a free book to you from Dynamic Catholic Ministries entitled: “Rediscover the Saints.” It’s an excellent book to help you re-energize your Catholic faith and a great way to start off the New Year. It focuses on the lives of some of our very important Saints and seeks to answer some of our deepest human questions. This past week at all our Christmas Services, we had these books passed out to anyone who would like one. If you have not received a copy (or were out of town) please take one for yourself. I am sure there are some left-overs the entrances of each of our ACC churches. These paperbacks are provided to us by some very special donors, so thanks to them as well.
This being the Christmas Season, I want to thank all who attended our Christmas Eve and Day services this past week. Thank you out goes toward those who helped decorate our churches, sing in our choirs, use their musical talent in our celebrations, those who greeted, ushered, lectured, altar served, were sacristans, and for anyone who helped others get to our holiday celebrations by offering them a ride in their automated sleighs! Christmas Mass is so much better when our churches are full! Thanks to Fr. Tom Olson and our Deacons who also helped in our celebrations. Finally, special thanks to those of you who have given so generously to our Christmas Collection in response to the Christmas letter I sent to you a couple weeks ago. We just can’t function unless we are able to pay our monthly bills, so God bless you for your kindness to us.
Soon we will start a New Year (2020). Seems time goes so fast, and yet we know God entered into our human history and our time to be with us! That’s the Good News, God’s gift in a child born at Bethlehem! So, once again, “May you have Peace-filled Christmas Season, and a Happy, Healthy New Year!”
