Week of June 30, 2019
These days everything looks so green and it’s great! It’s great to see such life springing forth from our fields to our gardens to our trees and other plants! This weekend I want to give a special shout out to our “Green Teams” from both St. Paul and St. Peter and commend them on the wonderful job they are doing in keeping our summer plants and flower beds looking so beautiful around our parish grounds! (I know at St. Peter certain people have volunteered to keep up specific areas around their church, while at St. Paul we have one larger team who oversees all various plants that are around.) I also want to thank our paid maintenance staff people (Gredo, Pat, Noel, and Tommy) from both parishes who do the major portion of the lawn mowing, building and sidewalk up-keep. To me, well-kept parish grounds are a sign that we not only take pride in our facilities but also value our Catholic Faith in Jesus Christ. Nice grounds are much more inviting than some place that obviously looks like it is unkempt.
Now, I know at St. Peter this Summer we have a special challenge with all the road construction going on in and around, however I look forward to the new roads and sidewalks which will improve St. Peter’s facility a tremendous amount. If you get a chance or see some volunteer working on our parish gardens and plants, please give them a “Thank You” and a compliment. They deserve it!
If you are ever interested in taking a certain section of our grounds or are willing to part of the help, don’t be afraid to call our Main Office and ask for Terry, our secretary. He will be able to put you in contact with the right person(s). It is a commitment, but only for the summer, and yet you can take pleasure in seeing the results of your good work. So, here’s to a continued good growing season, not only for our plants but also for spiritual selves!
