Editors note….While Father LeRoy is on retreat this week his weekly article is being substituted for this farewell from Judy:
As you may have heard, I retired from my position as Parish Secretary on January 3.
As I step down from this position, I would like to give you a short reflection on what has transpired for me over the last 17 years.
On December 10, 2001, I went from owning my own business to being a Parish Secretary of a church. What was supposed to be temporary, until I found a better paying job, ended up with a 17 year career working for two churches. Boy, God sure knows how to change a person’s plans! Over the years, I have worked full time, part time, full time and then part time again. I have seen parishioners come and go. Some were happy occasions and others, sad. There were many joyous times of Baptisms and Marriages. I have also seen staff members leave and it was hard to say good bye to them. I even had the opportunity to train in three priests. Now that was a big job! We have been blessed to have had Fr. Tim Baltes, Fr. Greg Lieser, Fr. Alan Wielinski and Fr. LeRoy Scheierl here as our shepherds at St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s. (I did not have to train Fr. Greg).
Another thank you goes out to all of you who prayed, loved and supported me through my cancer treatment. I could not have walked this journey on my own without God and you.
It has been a pleasure working with and getting to know parishioners from both of our parishes. With me turning that wonderful age for retirement and the cancer that put me a couple steps backward this last year, it is time for me to step down and enjoy life. I will miss you all!!! Thank you for letting me serve you. I will be back to visit!
Please welcome Terry Jancik. I know he will do a wonderful job serving both parishes.
