Week of December 9, 2018
I hope everyone’s Advent Season is going well….Advent is a good time to truly open our spirits and minds to the hope and promise God has for us, how God speaks to us in so many ways and in different people and opportunities that are presented to us. God’s voice is often heard in the changes and transitions of our life. So, my prayer and hope for all of us is that this season of preparation finds everyone ready to welcome our Savior in!
Speaking of changes and transitions, this week I would like to announce the retirement of Judy Rudnitski. Judy has been our Parish Secretary here at St. Paul (and later for both St. Peter and St. Paul) for the past 17 years. In that time, I believe she has done an excellent job in all parts of her position. Whether it was fielding the constant buzz of phone calls, answering and greeting people at the door, laying out our bulletin, coordinating parish calendars and schedules, coordinating funerals, keeping sacramental records, sending out mailings, keeping up our Safe Environment, working with our ASA school, or assisting our Parish Staff in their work (the list goes on and on), Judy has been an important part of all we do. The position of secretary is not an easy one, since it is really at the front line of all the activities going on in our Twinned Faith Community. For all of this, I want to take this time so say “Thank you, Judy for all the hard work and dedication you have shown us!” Judy even survived the transition of 3 different parish priests, one of which is myself! Again, I say, “Thank you!” for all the support you have given to me. Judy plans to retire on January 3, 2019, and so we want to wish her the best. She is still undergoing her cancer treatments and so far, all is going well. I pray she will have a long and healthy retirement, as well as a much deserved rest.
Having said, this, now is the time to introduce to you our newest employee or hire for our Parish Secretary Position. His name is Terry Jancik. Terry has been a resident of the St. Cloud area all his life. Many of you may already know him. He is married with children, is a member of Sacred Heart Church in Sauk Rapids and is currently studying to be a Deacon for Sacred Heart. Terry has a vast array of experiences. Over the years, he has worked with Wolters Kluwer Financial Services and as a Mortgage Loan Specialist and Customer Service at Capital One. He has worked with ING Direct in phone sales and service, for Fingerhut in Customer Service, and as a Sales Rep. for KKJM (Spirit 92.9) Radio. He was even an Orange Cab Taxi Driver for a time! Terry comes to us with great computer as well as communication skills which are very important to this position. In his short time here, we can already see that! Terry is a very energetic and enthusiastic person whom I believe will be a great ‘first person’ to anyone who comes to our office and is greeted at our office door. Terry has also been very involved with his own parish at Sacred Heart. He has been the Chairing and Marketing Coordinator for their Parish Festival, worked with V. Encuentro, and is a Lector in his church! Terry also has done some volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.
Right now, Terry is in training (with the help of Judy) who has less than 1 month to “show him the ropes.” So, far he is fitting in very well with our staff and is very happy and excited to be here. I would like all of you to please welcome Terry on board with us! Stop in just to introduce yourself if you have time. In the meantime, let’s continue to build the Kingdom of God in our midst as we prepare for Christ’s birth this Advent Season!
