Week of September 9, 2018
“Annual Reports and Annual Opportunities!” First Annual Reports: This week you will find inserted into all our bulletins our Annual Parish Financial Report for 2017-18. Please check them both St. Peter and St. Paul out as both are in each bulletin. Our fiscal year ended this past June 30th and each year in August we are required to submit to our Diocese of St. Cloud the results of our parish finances. We are also required to make public these numbers to our parish members at large. After all, you as active members of St. Peter and St. Paul are the ones who contribute to our parish financial support, so it only makes sense that you know exactly where our money is coming from and how it is spent. As your pastor (and business manager) over the past six years, I (along with our Finance Committees) have tried hard to keep our finances and budgets healthy and strong. Over the years, we have had to make some changes to keep us in ‘the black’ but overall, we were also able to keep many of the wonderful parish events and programs going strong thanks to you! I am happy to say that we had a very successful past year. I encourage everyone, then, to keep up your generosity and I (for my part) will continue to do my best to improve on what we’ve got.
Secondly Annual Opportunities: This September our “Parish Bible Study” and “Church Study Group” will begin to gather as a means to enrich our faith! Starting September 11th every Tuesday at 5:30 PM in the Community Room at St. Paul our Church Study Group will come together to view the “Catholicism” video series as presented by Archbishop Robert Barron. Archbishop Barron is an excellent teacher and provides some wonderful history, theology, and insights into our Roman Catholic Faith. This group will meet for 10 weeks straight, and everyone is welcomed! Starting Tuesday September 25th at 6:30 PM. in the Library Room at St. Peter our Parish Bible Study Group will be looking at Matthews’ Gospel video series as presented by Jeff Cavins who is another wonderful speaker and presenter who truly helps us understand our Bible from a Catholic perspective. If you can’t make it on Tuesday evenings, there will be another opportunity at St. Peter on Thursday mornings at 9:00 AM in the Library Room starting on the 27th. These Bible Study sessions will go on for 24 weeks. Everyone is welcomed!
Last Lent, during our Rebuilt: “Gather Us In” series on the Mass, the surveys passed out to our participants suggested a desire for more Bible Study and other opportunities to enrich their Catholic Faith. Here are two great chances to do just that! Come to one or both, come for part of the time or for the whole program. It does not matter, just be engaged and enriched as you can! When we are transformed in our faith, others with whom we come into contact can also be transformed in Christ!
Peace to all!
