If you have not already heard, Geralyn Nathe-Evans (our current Director of Faith Formation) will be retiring on October 3rd of this year. Geralyn has been working in the area of Faith Formation for over 30+ years and has now reached the ‘rule of 90,’ making her eligible for retirement benefits. For this reason she feels now is a good time to slow down, enjoy more of her personal life, and possibly explore new ventures. During her 30 plus years in religious education, she has worked for different parishes (including St. Peter and St. Paul) as well as with St. Ben’s and John’s University, teaching in their Social Ministry and Religious Education Departments. For the past several years, Geralyn has been a great addition to our own staff. She has been a very wonderful and supportive co-worker, someone who is very knowledgeable, and a person whom we have come to appreciate and depend on as head of our Faith Formation Program. Geralyn has always had a passion for teaching and passing on our Roman Catholic Faith to everyone she meets from pre-school thru adult. This said, I want to thank her for her many years of dedication, hard work, and service in these areas including pastoral and social ministries! She is leaving with a positive experience and on good terms.

This said, for the past two months a small hiring committee (and myself) have been advertising and interviewing for a new person to fill this position. The response has been overwhelming! We have looked over numerous applicants from the East coast to West and settled on four finalist whom we interviewed. Although many were very qualified, we finally decided on one person.

At this time, I would like to welcome Lisa Neu as the newest member of our staff here at St. Peter and St. Paul! Lisa will be our new Director of Faith Formation, starting Monday, August 27th During the months of August and September, Geralyn will be getting our Faith Formation Program started and then transitioning this over to Lisa. When October 3rd comes around, Lisa will be the one completely in charge and the person to call if you have any questions.

Lisa is no stranger to St. Peter and St. Paul nor to the St. Cloud area. She has a B. A. in Theology and a Masters in Pastoral Ministry from St. John’s. She has been involved with parish work for the past 20+ years having worked as a Campus Minister at St. Benedict’s College, Youth Consultant for the Diocese of St. Cloud, Director of Faith Formation at St. Augustine and St. Mary Cathedral, a member of a Faith Formation Design Team at Sacred Heart (Sauk Rapids) and finally currently very involved in MOPS (Mothers Of Pre-Schoolers). Lisa, and her husband, live in the St. Cloud area and together they have both been involved in our own V.B.S. program, our Art and Soul productions, and our Children’s Summer Theater Camps here at Peter and Paul, hence she is very familiar with our parishes and programs.

Like Geralyn, Lisa will be in charge of our “Total Faith Formation Program” from Pre-school through Adult. She will not only be in charge of Grade School through High School Religious Education and the Sacraments therein, but will also be working with ASA, St. Cloud Area Youth, our Rebuilt Program, RICA, overseeing our Parish Facebook page, and in charge of other Adult-retreat/education experiences. I believe she will do a fine job! Please be sure to thank Geralyn for her many years of service and please be sure to congratulate and welcome Lisa as a new person on of our staff. May God bless Lisa’ work and time with us. May we all support her in our own way to volunteer and help.
