I would like to take this opportunity to introduce to you, Fr. Henri Omeike. Fr. Henri is a priest who belongs to the Redemptorists Order, the same religious order as Fr. Peter Schavitz, the priest who recently did our twinned parish mission. I am not sure if he knows Fr. Schavitz, but if I think of it, I will ask him! Fr. Henri is from Nigeria, the east coast of Africa. He is here studying in the United States for several years in order to get his P.H.D. in Theological Ethics. He spent about one year at St. John’s University, Collegeville, before transferring to Fordham University in the Bronx, in New York City where he is currently at. This summer he is taking a course in C.P.E. (Clinical Pastoral Education) at the St. Cloud Hospital. I have agreed to host him for the summer and have him stay with me at my rectory here at St. Peter’s until Mid-August when he will then return to New York and to school. Fr. Henri is a very likable person who speaks several languages very well, including English which he is very fluent in. Feel free to strike up a conversation with him!
This weekend (or sometime very soon) I will introduce him to you at all our various parish weekend Masses. Although Fr. Henri will be very busy at the St. Cloud Hospital, he has been willing to fill in on weekends for other priests in our diocese as well as do an occasional weekend Mass and preach for me too! I ask you to please welcome him in any way you can and don’t be surprised if you see someone new walking the parish halls or in church with me or on his own to pray.
Welcome Fr. Henri, and I hope you have with us a very wonderful stay!
