By now you may have seen the new playground equipment that has been installed on the east side of St. Peter’s Church by Tri-Valley Opportunity Council. Tri-Valley has been leasing the south wing of our building for the past 1½ years, and this has been of great benefit for both of us. Their being here, has provided St. Peter’s with some much needed additional income to improve our finances, and our building has provided Tri-Valley with much needed space for their Head-start program giving children of “seasonal workers” (mostly Hispanics in our area) much needed learning and physical skills before they begin grade school.

This past winter Tri-Valley applied for and received a public grant to put in a playground set, and so they asked the leadership at St. Peter’ if they could go ahead and install the equipment. This would be at absolutely no cost to St. Peter’s Parish! Their request was put forth to both St. Peter’s Finance Committee and Pastoral Council, and all agreed it would be a good thing. I think the installation of the equipment has been done with a minimum amount of damage or impact on our parish grounds. I also think the playground equipment matches our building perfectly. Let’s please continue to welcome and support Tri-Valley for all the good they do!

On a second note: I would like to announce to everyone a fun and exciting event! Coming Thursday, June 29th is the Feast of St. Peter and St. Paul, the patron feast of our parishes. It’s a special day we set aside to honor the saints who have inspired our faith and helped us grow in Christ. This said, rather than simply have a regular 8:15 a.m. Mass at St. Peter that Thursday to honor our Patrons, why not give everyone from our twinned faith communities a chance to come to a ROX baseball game here in St. Cloud! This would be a great time to gather as a family or as individuals to enjoy America’s pastime…baseball! It is also a great time to celebrate our Patron Feast and our Catholic faith! Baseball, brats, and our belief! Can it get any better than that? If you have not already done so, please see our bulletin for more information and details on cost and times. Pray for good weather, and I’ll see you at the ball game!
