Week of February 5, 2017
“Winter blues getting you down?” No, doubt this time of year the winter weather and snow can seem to drag on, giving us a sort of “cabin fever.” One reason to get out and get recharged is, again, to come out to our Parish Mission! Think of this as 5 evenings of retreat for your mind, body and soul. It’s a way to reflect on our relationship with God and also meet new people. Hopefully at our Masses this weekend you heard Fr. Peter Schavitz introduce himself and got you excited to come back to hear more.
By the way, this mission sponsored by our Twinned Parishes of St. Peter and St. Paul is not just something we are doing for members of our own faith Community, it’s really intended for the whole community of St. Cloud! It’s really our gift to the St. Cloud area as well as ourselves. Members from all the surrounding parishes have been invited to attend. In addition to the many flyers and bulletins you have received, we have also had advertisements in our St. Cloud Visitor, ran spots on our local radio stations, sent email blasts, and even sent bulk mailings directly to every household in the north metro area. Since all our evenings with the exception of Thursday are not a “Catholic Mass” but rather liturgies focused on different aspects of our Christian faith, all Catholics, Christians or otherwise are invited to join us.
By now, you may be sick of hearing me push for this great event, but that is precisely because this is such a rare opportunity for everyone! Most parishes only put on something like this every 5-10 years at best and so your next opportunity may not be for a while. That’s why I am encouraging everyone to at least check it out. There will be readings, prayers, great spiritual talks by Fr. Schavitz, a time for witness and to reflect along with wonderful music. There is also a time for socializing and meeting new people each night.
“Come and see…” as Jesus once said to his apostles when they asked where he lived and were first introduced to him. Join us and relieve those symptoms of “cabin fever” that can so stifle us! Hopefully I will see you beginning Sunday afternoon February 5th at 1:00 PM at the Church of St. Paul! I promise it’s something you will not regret!
