Week of April 24, 2016
You’ve heard “America’s Got Talent” well our Art and Soul Committee has talent too! I would like to this opportunity to thank those who worked so hard to put on our recent “Oliver” dinner and theatre production this past weekend. The costumes were great, the food was delicious, and it was great way to bring people together to enjoy some amateur entertainment. This is the third year that our dinner theatre has been put on and each year it seems to get better and better. This year in particular, it involved many children. One of the results of doing such an activity is that parishioners are meeting other parishioners, making friends and becoming more involved in other areas of our parish life as well. In this sense, this is becoming a good evangelization tool, bringing more people into the life of Christ. Thank you! Special thanks also to Tom Siekkinen who orchestrates the whole event and to all the volunteers who have worked so long and hard to do this. Job well done!
On a different note, I would like to point out that during this Jubilee Year of Mercy we will continue to highlight the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. For the month of April you probably noticed an insert in our bulletin focusing on just two of these works of mercy: Admonish the Sinner and Feed the Hungry. For the next few months we will continue to highlight one Corporal and one Spiritual Work to help us understand how important these are to our Catholic Faith in Christ. There are also suggestions as to how you might in-corporate some of these into your own spiritual and active life as well as some Scriptural quotes to meditate upon. It’s all about becoming what I would call a, “people of mercy” patterned after our own Lord who is the source of Mercy for us all!
